This is the story of Tina Craig. Her four year marriage to Rick is far from blissful, but she feels trapped by her circumstances. Tina works as a short-hand typist at an insurance company. She also volunteers at a second-hand charity shop. One morning, Tina finds a mysterious letter in the pocket of an old suit someone has anonymously donated. Unbeknownst to Tina, this letter is the key that unlocks her destiny.
This is also the story of Billy Stirling, the author of that letter written back in 1939, and Chrissie Skinner, the girl it was addressed to. The author takes these four main characters and successfully weaves together a story filled with love, romance and heartache.
I enjoyed reading this novel very much. All the characters are believable and compelling. The story jumps back and forth in time from the early 1970’s to the wartime era, which adds an interesting aspect. I became so engrossed with the story, I could hardly put this book down. It is a well-written, fast and easy read. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a wonderful and heart-warming love story.
